Phonons in Nanocrystalline 57Fe

We measured the phonon density of states (DOS) of nanocrystalline Fe by resonant inelastic nuclear g-ray scattering. The nanophase material shows large distortions in its phonon DOS. We attribute the high energy distortion to lifetime broadening.
